Celebrating Our Multicultural Team With an International Potluck

At Larlyn, we know that exceptional property management customer service starts with great people. Recently, our team came together to celebrate one of our greatest strengths: diversity. Employees travelled to our London Head Office from across the country, including team members from Alberta and many colleagues from our GTA offices. The event gave everyone a chance to connect in person, share stories, and celebrate rich cultural backgrounds that make our organization unique.

Sharing Traditions, Building Connections

The lunch featured an incredible variety of homemade dishes from countries and cultures around the world. Family recipes passed down through generations sat alongside traditional favourites from employees’ home countries. Together, the dishes reflected the diverse experiences and perspectives that strengthen our team every day.

The event held special meaning because many of the dishes on display represented backgrounds of the employees who prepared them. Our workforce includes individuals from numerous countries and cultures. As a result, the pot luck offered a delicious reminder of how diversity enriches our workplace. Each dish came with a story. Those stories sparked conversations and helped colleagues learn more about one another beyond their day-to-day roles.

However, the celebration extended far beyond food. Gina led a special interactive game that brought Larlyn’s history to life. She creatively wove the name of every employee in attendance into the story while highlighting each person’s contributions to the team and the company’s success. Meanwhile, participants pased prizes left and right around the circle. Laughter and friendly conversation filled the air.

The activity reminded us that although we come from different backgrounds and traditions, we share common values, experiences, and a commitment to one another. Together, the food, stories, and shared moments showed that the traditions connecting us go far beyond what is served at the table.

The People Behind Exceptional Service

As a company committed to building strong communities, we believe that understanding and appreciating different perspectives helps us serve residents, clients, and communities more effectively. The same values of respect, inclusion, and collaboration that made this event so successful also drive our approach to property management customer service every day.

In addition, the event gave team members the opportunity to put faces to names they know well but may never met in person. Throughout the day, colleagues exchanged best practices, strengthened working relationships, and built the confidence in reaching out to one another. Those connections make it easier to tackle new challenges and celebrate success together. Most importantly, they help foster the teamwork and communication that support exceptional property management customer service across our organization.

The celebration concluded with a large group photo, capturing a sample of team members from across departments and regions. Looking around the room, one thing stood out clearly. While our employees come from many different places and backgrounds, we share a commitment to supporting one another, delivering excellence, and helping Larlyn continue to grow and succeed.
